Owners – Catrina & Simon Cornwall

Our story began back in 2006 when we decided that our next dog was going to be a Hungarian Vizsla after being overwhelmed at how beautiful the breed were when we visited Crufts the same year. We then contacted Sharon and Jim, following a recommendation, and were fortunate to be considered by them for a puppy from their next litter. We had already decided on a bitch and selected our new arrival, from the litter of eight that was born to Baralinka Lass of Roughshoot (Nugget) on the 5th September 2006.

Ilka has surpassed our expectations of what a dog could be. She is an absolute delight to own and our house would not be the same without her. She is overwhelmingly faithful and is absolutely wonderful with our daughter, Bethany, and the whole host of friends that she brings home.
Ilka has also held her head high in the show ring, both being shown by myself and my daughter, having won 2 RCC's to date and a 1st in her class at Crufts 2009. Not bad for a puppy that was purchased purely as a pet and to an owner who had never been near a show ring let alone entered into one!

Ilka is also a registered Pets as Therepy volunteer and we regularly visit care and nursing homes offering a little pat or cuddle to those residents that need one. She has also gained her KC Good Citizen Bronze Award
Sharon and Jim are excellent breeders and we are now honoured to call them our friends and they have always been there to answer any questions or concerns that we have had. We have also developed close friendships with other Vizsla owners and we have many laughs when ‘Team Roughshoot’ get together.
The Hungarian Vizsla is certainly not a common breed and any new owner will have to get used to complete strangers approaching them to say how gorgeous their dog is and asking the question ‘What breed is it?’
